Undersheriff Hausner is a former United States Marine Corps Sergeant and has over 40 years of law enforcement experience. Tom worked for the Sheriff’s Officer for 28 years, retiring in 2013. During his time at the Sheriff’s Office Tom was an evidence technician, field training officer, active shooter instructor, firearms instructor, Honor Guard Commander. He was promoted to Patrol Shift Sergeant and Court Security Supervisor. He was also a SWAT Team member and SWAT Commander for 12 years. Tom received numerous awards while at the Sheriff’s Office including meritorious service with valor. Tom was the State of Wisconsin and National Director of the Field Training Officers Association. Tom was an adjunct instructor at the Homeland Security Training Institute.

Tom was the Commander (Chief) of the Geneva Lake Police Department from 2005 until December 2022.

Tom was a Village Board member for the Village of Walworth, WI serving as Emergency Management Coordinator.

While in the Marines, Tom graduated from the Basis Leadership class, Non-Commissioned Officers Academy, Staff Non-Commissioned Officers Academy and the Basic Officers School – Non Residency course.

Tom is a graduate of the FBI National Academy 177th Session, International Association of Chiefs of Police Executive Development Course, and Wisconsin State Patrol First line supervisor, middle management and advanced management courses.
