Statement from Sheriff Kurt Picknell

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers issued Emergency Order #12, “Safer at Home Order”, in an effort to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Public Health, Law Enforcement, Fire Departments and EMS throughout Walworth County are committed to your safety.

During these difficult and unprecedented times some of our individual rights are certainly being TEMPORARILY restricted at the recommendation of medical health professionals for the greater good of us all. This is a community effort that requires collaboration and cooperation from us all. I ask you the citizens of Walworth County to voluntarily comply with the “Safer at Home Order” issued so that we can get through this difficult time together. I understand and appreciate the great personal sacrifice being made. With that said, we will investigate and take enforcement action on blatant violations of this order that put our community at greater risk. Again, I am requesting your voluntary compliance with this order. Walworth County is a highly desirable area and we all look forward to enjoying it to the fullest in the future. Finally my thanks for your understanding and personal sacrifice for the greater collective good.
