Governor Evers Approves US 12 Improvements in Walworth County

Work to Begin Week of April 26, 2021

(ELKHORN, WI) – Governor Evers signed a $7.2-million contract to improve multiple bridges along US 12 between WIS 50 in Lake Geneva and County H in Genoa City. Work is scheduled to begin the week of April 26, 2021.

“Walworth County is thrilled with increased state investment in local infrastructure,” says Walworth County Public Works Director Richard Hough. “Projects along Interstate 12 are most welcome. With increased road work by the state and local authorities comes an increased chance for a tragic accident. Drivers are advised to please slow down and follow signs and signals in and around public works projects.”

US 12 will remain open to traffic during construction. Crews will utilize lane closures and crossover traffic patterns to complete the work.

Construction is scheduled for completion by the end of 2021. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.

Bridge locations receiving improvements:

  • US 12 at WIS 50
  • Townline Road
  • Bloomfield Road
  • Clover Road
  • Pell Lake Drive
  • County U
  • Nippersink Creek
  • County B

Zenith Tech Inc., is the prime contractor for the project and will implement the following:

  • Bridge re-decking
  • Structure overlays
  • Concrete surface repairs
  • Girder painting
  • Upgrades to guardrails
  • Paving along Pell Lake Drive
