Walworth County Treasurer Announces Extension of Modified Office Procedure During COVID-19 Emergency

WALWORTH COUNTY TREASURER ANNOUNCES EXTENSION OF MODIFIED OFFICE PROCEDURE DURING COVID-19 EMERGENCY

In response to public health concerns associated with the COVID-19 outbreak, and pursuant to Walworth County Resolution No. 102-03/20 approved on March 19, 2020, the County Treasurer, Valerie Etzel has established how the Walworth County Treasurer’s office will handle operations that are affected by the COVID-19 emergency. 

As a constitutional officer, the county treasurer is required to continue to offer certain services in a limited fashion.  There is constant monitoring of the situation and re-evaluation of the temporary procedure will be on April 23, 2020. 

The following temporary procedure is now in place:

County Treasurer Valerie Etzel is encouraging the public to pay taxes and request information through the mail, email or by using electronic options on her office’s website, at https://www.co.walworth.wi.us/214/Treasurer  

Payments by check or money order will be accepted in the Treasurer’s Office drop box located in the parking lot of the Government Center building.   A receipt will be mailed to the tax payer as written confirmation of payment.

For those unable to use those methods, the office will offer limited, in person hours to accept payments or records requests, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. Etzel stresses that people should avoid using the in-person services, as there is potential for several people in close proximity in the office lobby.
