The 2020-2021 school year brought the opening of Lakeland’s STEAMS lab. Students in grades 6-12 and LSYou now have the opportunity to participate in STEAMS class where activities take a multifaceted approach, focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics, and Sensory components.

Our STEAMS lab is equipped with cutting edge technology that helps students foster needed job skills in today’s growing digital era. As you look around our lab you will find 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, a green screen, vinyl cutter, heat press, coding robots, hands on building tools, and much, much more!
STEAMS Curriculum
Lakeland’s STEAMS goal is to find ways to engage students while working to grow digital literacy skills and prepare them for life and careers after they exit Lakeland. STEAMS class utilizes the Wisconsin Information & Technology Literacy Standards (ITLS) as an outline for our learning. STEAMS class topics vary from basic computer operation skills, to learning to be creative, problem solvers using the engineering design process, to helping to write and produce our school-wide morning announcements, to being hands-on with high tech equipment like our 3D printers and laser cutters. STEAMS class allows students to work collaboratively with classmates, learning from each other while utilizing their individual strengths. A focus in STEAMS class is making student strengths and interests a priority and allowing students to take ownership of their learning and ideas.
