Audit Requirements
If a provider receives $100,000 or more from purchases for services provided in a calendar year period, the provider shall arrange for an independent financial and compliance audit pursuant to applicable federal guidelines plus those guidelines provided by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and Wisconsin Department of Children and Families.
The provider is responsible for ensuring that the complete audit report is received within six months of the end of the fiscal period covered by the audit. If the audit report will be late, the provider must request a formal extension of the audit deadline.
Key elements of the audit include, but are not limited to:
- Assurance the audit was performed in accordance with the Provider Agency Audit Guidelines (PAAG)
- Auditor’s contact information with email address
- Auditor’s opinion
- Complete financial statements with related notes
- Inclusion of Management letter, if issued
- Report on Compliance
- Reserve Supplemental schedule/allowable profit schedule
- Schedule of expenditures of Federal and State awards
- Schedule of Findings and questioned costs
- Supplementary schedule of revenues and expenses by program
