Effective January 3, 2017 State of Wisconsin has statewide issuance of vital records for births from October 1, 1907 to present, deaths from September 1, 2013 and marriages from June 21, 2015 to present. Death certificates prior to September 1, 2013 must be purchased at the occurrence or residence county only. Marriage certificates prior to June 21, 2015 must be purchased at the occurrence county only. Applicants must have a direct and tangible interest in order to obtain a certified copy of any vital record.
In most instances, mail or online orders are processed on the day received or the day following. For online orders, please change the shipping method to U.S. (Standard) Mail if you do not wish to use the express mail service. Applications submitted in person in our office generally take 15 to 20 minutes to complete. The cut off time for processing in-person requests is 4:30 p.m. Note: at least one form of valid identification which contains your current name is required to accompany each request.
