Tax Payment Information

The town, village and city treasurers mail the real estate and personal property tax bills in December. If you do not receive your tax bill by December 30, please verify your mailing address with your town, village or city treasurer or the Walworth County Treasurer’s Office.

Real Estate Payment Options:
1. Pay the entire tax bill in full to the Town, Village or City by January 31; or

2. Pay the first installment to the Town, Village or City by January 31 and the
second installment to Walworth County Treasurer by July 31 (Installment
amounts are noted on the tax bill).

All delinquent and postponed real property taxes must be paid to the County.

Method of Payment:
Taxes due the County should be made payable to: Walworth County Treasurer.
Credit card payments are accepted.

Payments by Mail:
Payments that are mailed must be postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service no later than the payment due date.

Payments In Person:
Payments that are hand-delivered must be to the proper treasurer by the due date.
A payment drop box is available in the parking lot of the Government Center.

Payments on-line
Credit card payments can be made on-line.

Failure to Pay on Time:
If either installment is late, the TOTAL UNPAID tax is delinquent and subject to interest and penalty at a rate of 1.5% per month retroactive from February 1 until paid in full.

Personal Property Taxes:
All personal property taxes for businesses and mobile homes are due to the town, village or city treasurer by January 31.
