There are many volunteer opportunities offered
by Walworth County departments and programs. You can make a difference.
Lakeland School:
· Assist in the library
· Be a classroom aid
· Help with landscape maintenance
· Be a ceramics/crafts leader
· Be a swimming pool assistant
· Assist with clerical support
· Be a computer lab assistant
Lakeland Health Care Center:
· Be a therapy or activity assistant
· Be a receptionist during lunch breaks
· Lead activities
· Go on outings and shopping trips with residents
· Bring in well behaved pets
· Be a friendly visitor
· Share a talent with residents
· Help with landscape maintenance
· Lead worship services
· Provide music or entertainment
· Escort residents to medical appointments
Department of Health and Human Services
(Aging Division):
· Be a senior dining center volunteer
· Drive seniors to medical appointments
· Be a “meals on wheels” volunteer
· Be a senior visitor
· Be a court appointed guardian
Department of Health and Human Services
(Children’s Division):
· Be a family resource aid
· Be a mentor or friendly visitor to children in
foster care
· Assist with clerical duties
· Oversee and support juveniles needing community
service hours
· Provide childcare during foster parent training
(early spring)
Public Health:
· Assist with immunization clinics, hand out forms
and line numbers
· Clerical support needed
· Assist with seasonal flu clinics (professional
volunteers needed, ie LPN, RN or EMT's)
· Support staff volunteers needed for seasonal flu
clinics
Land Use and Resource Management:
· Assist with a large scanning project and clerical
work
· Clean boats/clean water program
Emergency Management:
· Be an emergency operations center specialist
· Be on a damage assessment team
· Be an on-scene specialist
· Be a planning specialist
UW-Extension Office:
· Be 4-H leaders/fair assistants
· Be a camp counselor at 4-H camp in July
· Be a master gardener/assist with
gardening/planting programs with nursing home residents and Lakeland
School students
Sheriff’s Office or Jail:
· Minister to inmates
· Be part of the literacy council
· Assist with clerical duties as needed
· Assist in organizing the library and mobile
bookcarts, reshelve books, and general duties (no contact with inmates)
Treasurer’s Office:
· Help with short term projects during property tax
time and at different times of the year
Other departments need help with clerical duties
at different times of the year.
