Canine Unit

Dog graphicThe Walworth County Sheriff's Office Canine Unit has been in existence since 1989.

The Unit provides services to other departments within the county including building searches, narcotic searches, tracking, and other canine skills.  School Districts throughout the county use the canine unit's narcotic skills by requesting locker and vehicle searches on school grounds.  The unit has been successful in the location of narcotics during these searches.

In addition to the handling of their canine partners, Deputies Wierenga and Hintz continue to meet their obligations as officers in the Patrol Division.
The officers do this by investigating accidents, handling complaints, and enforcing traffic laws.  Both officers are committed to providing and promoting quality canine services to Walworth County.  Both canine teams maintain quality training and are certified on a yearly basis.

The Canine Unit is available for demonstrations to civic organizations and schools throughout Walworth County.

For more information on the K-9 program or its services, please contact the Unit Coordinator, Capt. Scott McClory
