""It's All Connected - Products That
Pollute" - Adult Educational
Program
This program is designed to educate adults
about the proper handling and disposal of household hazardous
waste. The term "household hazardous waste" may sound unfamiliar,
but its contents are well-known and commonly found in homes in the
form of used
motor oil, antifreeze, oil-based paint, vehicle batteries,
pesticides, left over cleaning products, etc. The improper use or
disposal of these products can harm the environmental and public
health.
"It's All Connected - Products that Pollute" is
available to local community groups and service organizations that wish to
provide members an educational program with an environmental
message. The program is presented by Solid Waste Division
staff and the length of the presentation is flexible to fit the
group's time needs. To schedule this program or receive
more information please
contact us.
Program Objectives - Desired Learning Outcomes:
1. Educate participants about the identification, proper
handling, and disposal of household hazardous waste - the unusable
or unwanted portion of a product that contains volatile chemicals.
2. Provide information about alternative products that can be
used to reduce toxicity in the home.
3. Provide instructions for latex paint disposal.
4. Provide information about the safe disposal of hazardous
products via the Walworth County Clean Sweep program, or other
collection opportunities.
