Press Release for 2018 Clean Sweep Event

Solid Waste Division Program Administration
The Solid Waste Division was formed in April 1990 as a part of the Walworth County Planning, Zoning, and Sanitation Department, (now known as the Land Use and Resource Management Department).  In June 2000 the Solid Waste Division was formally transferred to the Walworth County Facilities Management Department.  On January 1, 2003 the Facilities Management Department and Highway Department were consolidated into a Public Works Department.

The Public Works Committee is the County Board Liaison Committee for the Solid Waste Division.

Mission and Activities of the Solid Waste Division
The Solid Waste Division is dedicated to fostering protection of the county's natural resources and the health of its citizens, and reducing the county's solid waste stream.

The Solid Waste Division sponsors programs to collect and properly dispose of hazardous waste and special waste materials generated by households, farms, businesses and institutions.

The Division maintains a library of educational resources that may be used in the classroom or at organizational meetings, and offers educational programs related to pertinent solid waste management issues.

The Division provides information and assistance to local officials, the business community, and the general public regarding local options for recycling, composting, waste reduction, solid waste collection and disposal, and hazardous waste disposal.
