PRICE PARK CONSERVANCY
was acquired in 1995 and 1996 for a
nature-based recreation park with the assistance of the Wisconsin Department
of Natural Resources Stewardship Grant Program.
The nature-based recreation park includes the Sugar Creek floodlands
and shoreline; various wetland plant communities, including sedge meadow,
shallow marsh and uplands, including oakwoods, pine plantations, open field
grasslands and agricultural lands.
The park has a varying topography including rolling hills, floodlands
and wetlands.
The
property consists of 66.3 acres donated by Merle and Thomas H. Price for a
nature conservation area; a second acquisition of 49 acres from the Feldman
family includes the Mathilde Schreiner Woods.
The park has several walking trails
and includes a meadow area planted with wildflowers.
A picnic shelter is located near the parking lot and is available to
reserve. Please call the
Walworth County Public Works Department at 262-741-3114 for additional
