Commonly Asked Questions

Q.    Will I need to share a room with someone else?
A.    No.  All of our rooms are licensed for one person only.  You also will have your own bathroom with a toilet and sink.  There is a separate tubroom with a whirlpool and a shower on each household.

Q.    Can I eat my meals in my room?
A.    As long as you are not considered to be at risk for choking, you may eat in your room.  However, we recommend that you join the other fourteen residents in your household at meal times for socialization.

Q.    What if I'm hungry between meals?
A.    There are a variety of snacks available in the household kitchens: cookies, crackers, cheese, peanut butter, bread, ice cream, etc.  You are welcome to help yourself or ask staff for assistance with obtaining snacks.

Q.    What should I pack?
A.    You will be assisted with getting dressed every day, so bring comfortable clothing, shoes and slippers with non-skid soles, pajamas or nightgowns and a robe.  We also recommend you bring an electric razor.  Toiletries, such as toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, shampoo, etc., are provided.  If you prefer a specific brand, however, you may want to bring it with you.  Sheets, blankets and pillows are provided.

Q.    Is laundry provided?
A.    Yes.  Personal laundry is done by the facility and is included in the daily rate.  However, if you do not want your clothes marked with your name and room number by our laundry, we recommend you have a family member pick up your laundry.  Please note the State regulations require that clothing be washed in hot water at our facility.

Q.    Will there be a TV in my room?
A.    There is a TV in the living room of your household.  There is satellite hook up in your room, which is included in the daily rate, but you must supply the TV for your room unless we have a donated TV available for use.  Channels available are:

A.    There is a variety of activities offered: card groups, baking, bingo, karaoke, church services, shopping and lunch outings are just a few.  Lakeland Health Care Center is dedicated to providing resident directed care and our recreation staff regularly survey our residents regarding their programming choices.  You will find a monthly activity calendar in your room and daily activities written on the board in your dining room.

Q.    Am I free to leave the facility for family outings?
A.    Yes.  The only restrictions are if you are here for short-term rehab and Medicare is paying for your stay, you then must participate in all scheduled therapy and cannot be on an overnight visit.  If you are paying privately or have Medicaid, overnight visits away from the facility are permitted.

A.    Yes.  To reserve the Craft Room, Activity Room or Meditation Room, please contact one of the recreation staff.
