Q. Will I
need to share a room with someone else?
A. No. All
of our rooms are licensed for one person only. You also will have your own
bathroom with a toilet and sink. There is a separate tubroom with a
whirlpool and a shower on each household.
Q. Can I eat
my meals in my room?
A. As long as
you are not considered to be at risk for choking, you may eat in your
room. However, we recommend that you join the other fourteen residents in
your household at meal times for socialization.
Q. What if
I'm hungry between meals?
A. There are a
variety of snacks available in the household kitchens: cookies, crackers,
cheese, peanut butter, bread, ice cream, etc. You are welcome to help
yourself or ask staff for assistance with obtaining snacks.
Q. What
should I pack?
A. You will be
assisted with getting dressed every day, so bring comfortable clothing, shoes
and slippers with non-skid soles, pajamas or nightgowns and a robe. We
also recommend you bring an electric razor. Toiletries, such as
toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, shampoo, etc., are provided. If
you prefer a specific brand, however, you may want to bring it with you.
Sheets, blankets and pillows are provided.
Q. Is laundry
provided?
A. Yes.
Personal laundry is done by the facility and is included in the daily
rate. However, if you do not want your clothes marked with your name and
room number by our laundry, we recommend you have a family member pick up your
laundry. Please note the State regulations require that clothing be washed
in hot water at our facility.
Q. Will there
be a TV in my room?
A. There is a TV
in the living room of your household. There is satellite hook up in your
room, which is included in the daily rate, but you must supply the TV for your
room unless we have a donated TV available for use. Channels available are:

Q. May I bring
in my recliner from home?
A. Yes, Lakeland
Health Care Center provides a hospital bed, nightstand, dresser, wardrobe for
hanging clothes and chair for each room. Many of our residents bring their
own lounge chairs/recliners for their rooms. Please note that all
furniture must be at least six inches away from the heating register.
Q. How often
will I be seen by therapy?
A. Lakeland
Health Care Center has a contract with RehabCare for physical, occupational and
speech therapy. If your physician orders one or all of these therapies,
you will be seen five times per week by each therapy ordered.
Q. What are
visiting hours?
A. Your family
and friends are welcome to visit at any time. However, the front doors are
unlocked between 7:30 AM and 8:00 PM daily.
Q. What types
of activities are provided?
A. There is a
variety of activities offered: card groups, baking, bingo, karaoke, church
services, shopping and lunch outings are just a few. Lakeland Health Care
Center is dedicated to providing resident directed care and our recreation staff
regularly survey our residents regarding their programming choices. You
will find a monthly activity calendar in your room and daily activities written
on the board in your dining room.
Q. Am I free
to leave the facility for family outings?
A. Yes.
The only restrictions are if you are here for short-term rehab and Medicare is
paying for your stay, you then must participate in all scheduled therapy and
cannot be on an overnight visit. If you are paying privately or have
Medicaid, overnight visits away from the facility are permitted.
Q. Is there a
room available where my family can come to celebrate birthdays/holidays with me?
A. Yes. To
reserve the Craft Room, Activity Room or Meditation Room, please contact one of
the recreation staff.
Q. May I
bring my medication from home?
A. Generally,
the answer is no. Your medications will be ordered through the pharmacy
that we contract with. However, some medications may be allowed from home,
so please speak to your nurse about this for specifics.
Q. Do you
allow pets?
A. Pets are
allowed to visit as long as they are up to date with their vaccinations and kept
on a leash.
Q. Can I get
my hair done while I'm there?
A. We have a
Beautician who works three days per week. There is a minimal charge for
her services. However, your hair will be washed with your bath at no
additional charge.
Q. Can my
family eat meals with me?
A. Yes.
Meal tickets may be purchased at the Reception Desk. Lunch is $6.00 and
ticket must be purchased before 11:30 AM. Supper is $4.00 and ticket must be
purchased before 4:30 PM. A twenty-four (24) hour notice is required for
parties greater than two. Meals may be eaten in the sunroom, Craft Room,
core area or Activity Room.
Q. What are
banking hours?
A. Banking can
be done at the Reception Desk from 7:00 AM-8:00 PM Monday through Friday and
8:00 AM-3:00 PM on weekends and holidays.
Q. How do I
pay for Beauty Shop services?
A. We ask that
you deposit some money in a resident account. Funds are automatically
deducted when you receive hair care. Gift certificates are also available
for purchase from the Reception Desk.
