Lakeland Health Care Center
Walworth Country has historically provided care for all individuals who
are not able to care for themselves. The County Poor
Farm opened in 1852 and housed the homeless, poor and
those deemed to be chronically insane. Farm products
raised on the farm were distributed by the Board to
needy people throughout the county.
Over the years the
programs adjusted to the needs of the population. In
1938, the country general hospital was built and the
poor farm became the Walworth County Home for the Aged.
Lakeland Nursing Home was built in 1962 and became a
skilled nursing facility in 1974. In 2004, the Walworh
County Board of Supervisors approved the construction of
the 120 bed facility, built to provide resident directed
care in a homelike environment.

beautiful facility on July 19, 2006
