Environmental Health Services

The Environmental Health Services Division provides resources for the assessment, management, control and prevention of environmental factors that may adversely affect the health, comfort, safety or well-being of individuals.

 

Environmental Health Specialist

The Department's environmental health specialist can assist residents with various issues such as water quality, lead poisoning, human health hazards, air quality and food safety. Many questions can be answered by the specialist while others are referred to other State/Local agencies or private businesses (such as pest control specialists or indoor air quality consultants).

 

Public Establishments

Information about restaurants, school food service, caterers, temporary food stands, lodging establishments, pools and water attractions, campgrounds, recreational/educational camps, vending machines and tattoo/body piercing establishments can be obtained by calling the Wisconsin Division of Public Health located in Madison at phone number (608) 266-2835.

 

Retail Food Establishments

Information about retail food establishments such as grocery stores, convenience stores, bakeries, etc. can be obtained by calling the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection Division at phone number

(608) 224-4700.

 

Manufactured Home Communities

Information about manufactured home communities (mobile home parks) can be obtained by calling the Wisconsin Department of Commerce at phone number (608) 266-3151.

Rabies Control

If you have been the victim of an animal bite please report the bite to local law enforcement authorities and seek the treatment of a health care provider immediately. Bat exposures are of special concern in Wisconsin. Since many bite bats go unnoticed if you have had a bat in your home and cannot completely rule out exposure please seek the treatment of a health care provider immediately.
