Energy Assistance
Emergency services...
If you do not have heat, or if you have received a disconnect
notice from your heating fuel dealer, or if you are nearly out of
heating fuel and do not have any way to pay for more, you may be eligible for
emergency assistance. The Crisis Assistance program provides emergency
services. If you think you need emergency heating services, call 262-741-3337 or 800-365-1587.
Regular services
Wisconsin’s Home Energy Assistance Program
helps pay for home energy costs through several programs.
The Heating Assistance program is a one-time benefit for each heating season (October 1 through May 15).
This benefit is
intended to help pay a portion of home heating costs. It is not intended
to cover the entire annual cost of heating a home.
The amount of the heating assistance benefit depends on the
size of the household, the household income, and the cost of heating the
home.
The Public Benefits program assists with non-heating
electric costs. Persons may be eligible to receive benefits for both
heating and non-heating costs.
The Weatherization program can help to reduce home energy
costs and thus to conserve energy. Weatherization can make a home warmer
in the winter and cooler in the summer. Weatherization may also save
money by reducing energy consumption.
