Supplemental Security Income - Exceptional (SSI-E)

SSI-E is a supplement that the state of Wisconsin provides as an additional monthly payment to a person already receiving SSI and has exceptional expenses due to a disability or limitation.

A person may be eligible for an SSI-E supplement if that person has exceptional expenses, receives SSI and lives in one of the following licensed or certified facilities:

  • licensed or certified adult family home

  • community-based residential facility (CBRF) of 20 beds or less

  • certified residential care apartment complex (RCAC)

  • or SSI persons who live in their own household or another's household who pay their share of household expenses and who need at least 40 hours of primary long-term support services each month.
