Benefit Specialist Programs

The Elder Benefit Specialist Program assists persons 60 years of age or older who may need assistance in securing public or private benefits. The Elder Benefit Specialist provides information to older adults regarding their benefits. The Elder Benefit Specialist also suggests alternative actions that older adults can take to secure benefits. The Elder Benefit Specialist also helps to appeal denials of benefits, advocates on behalf of older adults, and  makes appropriate referrals to other agencies and organizations.

The Elder Benefit Specialist is continually trained and monitored by attorneys knowledgeable in elder law, and all information is kept strictly confidential.

The Elder Benefit Specialist Program is supported with state, federal and county funds. Persons assisted by the program are encouraged to make a donation towards the cost of the service. All donated funds are used to expand the service to other older adults.

The Disability Benefit Specialist program assists adults between the ages of 18-59 who have a disability. The Disability Benefit Specialist will help answer questions and solve problems related to Social Security, Medicare, health insurance and other public and private benefits for people with disabilities.

The Disability Benefit Specialist services are free and confidential.
