LONG TERM CARE BENEFITS FOR VETERANS

United States Department of Veterans Affairs (V.A.):

V.A. is only required to provide long term care to veterans needing skilled care that are rated 70% or more for service-connected disabilities.

V.A. may provide monthly pension benefits to wartime veterans and their surviving spouse who are paying for long-term care services in the community. The pension program is a means-tested benefit. Eligibility is based on a number of factors to include level of disability, income, assets and cost of care.

Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA):

WDVA operates three long-term care facilities

             Union Grove in Racine County

             King in Waupaca County

Chippewa Falls in Chippewa County

Veterans/spouses are charged a daily rate for their care.

Medicaid and V.A. pension benefits may be available to offset the cost of care.

THE VETERANS SERVICE OFFICE IS AVAILABLE TO ASSIST YOU WITH APPLICATION FOR THE ABOVE SERVICES.
