CARE BENEFITS FOR VETERANS

Veterans Affairs (V.A.):
V.A. is only required to provide
long term care to veterans needing skilled care that are rated 70% or more
for service-connected disabilities.
V.A. may provide monthly pension
benefits to wartime veterans and their surviving spouse who are paying for
long-term care services in the community. The pension program is a means-tested benefit. Eligibility is based on a number of factors to include level of
disability, income, assets and cost of care.
Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA):
WDVA operates three long-term care facilities
Union Grove in Racine County
King in Waupaca County
Chippewa Falls in Chippewa County
Veterans/spouses are charged a
daily rate for their care.
Medicaid and V.A. pension benefits may be available to offset the cost of care.
