A Department of Natural Resources' chapter 30
permit/GRADING permit is required for any grading
covering more than 10,000 square feet on the bank of a navigable stream or
lakes. These permit require a public notice and an opportunity for Public
Comment. The process does take time. Many large SFR project sites on Lakes
may require a Chapter 30 Grading Permit from the WDNR, when land disturbance
exceeds 10,000 square feet.
